Ages 13-14

Students begin designing works of art that clearly communicate information. They also learn how to support an evaluation of art with a logical argument. The creative skills learned will help develop their confidence in sharing their ideas.

10-WEEK CLASS! April 1 – June 3; Wednesdays, 4:00 – 5:30pm

Working with each child’s skill level, handbuilding, wheelthrowing, and glazing techniques are explored. Advanced students have the opportunity for independent study with access to an instructor for guidance. Students must be at least 13 years old to take this class. Tuition includes materials and firings.

April 4 – May 2; Saturdays, 1:30 – 3:00pm

A picture is worth 1000 words. Well, get ready to speak volumes! Get behind the camera and tell stories from your point of view. Discover the power of finding the right angle for the perfect shot! This course introduces the camera as an art-making tool and teaches the fundamentals of Photography. Access to our state-of-the-art Digital Lab provides the opportunity to learn simple photo editing techniques as well! As long as it can connect to a computer, your camera does not need to be expensive to enjoy this course. Tuition includes Lab fees.

Harness the kinetic power of simple forces to create art like you never have before! Tinker with strings and hinges, wood and weights to build simple gadgets that slide and swing their marks across the paper! Tuition includes materials.

May 16 – June 6; Saturdays, 1:30 – 3:00pm

Take your drawing skills out of this world! Begin with pen and paper to create original artwork using classic art techniques and transfer them to the computer screen where your imagination can run wild! Learn to digitally manipulate your own images into the stuff of dreams! This class will teach Adobe Illustrator, for producing and altering vector images, and some Photoshop to color, correct, and manipulate pixel-based images and photographs. No previous experience required, but some basic computer skills will help. Tuition includes materials and Lab fees.

Chop! Chop! Dig! Dig! Explore the history of famous building styles… from the inside! Using the popular block building computer game Minecraft™, this amazing course teaches various architectural principles and applies those skills to the creation of Mayan temples, Japanese pagodas, and modern art galleries. Join us for an exciting way to learn the history and culture behind these iconic structures while collaborating with others in a virtual environment! Computer Lab fees included. Prerequisite: Personal Minecraft™ account from https://minecraft.net/ required.
